At the beginning of this week we had a special visitor in to present to all of the student's in the Science Program. Randy Bottles, a First Nations Elder was in to tell us a bit about First Nations Culture. On the first day of the presentation we got to see a traditional head dress, a vest, and some moccasins. We learned about how First Nations traditionally live their lives, and all of the different elements of nature used. On the second day, we got to view photos of tipis, traditional First Nations art, and some modern First Nations art. We created a mind map for the things we learned as well. What a great introduction to the First Nations traditional way of life!
Hi Everyone;
I realized that I had not posted my e-mail address on here for parents and caregivers to reach me. If you need to be in touch with any questions or concerns please e-mail me at: [email protected] Look forward to meeting each of you soon! Miss.Hansen Exploration Students in Grade 3 have the opportunity to research, build and create each morning during Exploration Time. Students use this time to investigate topics that interest them. This week we have been working on designing a plan and list of materials to support our creations or inventions. We have been really excited to learn about how to support tall structures and create strong foundations. Students are learning to talk about their work and express their thinking using the framework, “I see, I think, I wonder…”
We are very excited to get out of the classroom and get involved in meaningful field study work. If you have not already done so, please stop by the school office and fill out the volunteer application. Thanks! Welcome to our blog for the grade three science program. We are currently working on dates for our first field studies and we will need the parent's help to make them a success! Once we have the dates we will post them to our blog as well as send the required field trip forms home. We have enjoyed getting to know the student's in the first week and exploring a variety of STEAM challenges to begin to explore the process of trial and error as well as team work. We are very excited about the adventures we are about to have!
